Pasighat
is situated at the right bank of river Siang(name given to Brahmaputra
in Arunachal). The place worth a visit here would be the Lali Wildlife
Sanctuary where one can find in plenty the wild buffalo, tiger, samber
and deer. One can also take a glimpse of the famous Ponnung Dance of the
Adis, and see the emporium and villages. Languages spoken here are Adi(Gallong),
Hindi, Assamese and English.
Best season to visit Pasighat
is from October to April. Woollens are required in Winters and cottons
in Summers.
Nearest
airport is at Lilabari. Nearest railway station is at Murkongselek. One
can reach Pasighat by bus or car from Itanagar, North Lakhimpur and Silapathar.
The more interesting way would be reaching by ferry which can be taken
from Dibrugarh to Oiramghat, and Oiramghat to Pasighat.
Accommodation is available at Circuit House and Inspection Bungalow. Reservation authority lies with the Deputy Commissioner, Pasighat. Accommodation is also available at Anchal Samiti Guest House, Hotel Siang, Hotel Arun, and Hotel Sanggo. Ideal for river rafting, boating and angling on river Siang, and trekking and hiking. |
