Miao's
main attractions are the Mini Zoo, Tibetan refugee settlement where colourful
woollen carpets of various designs are produced. Oil drilling at Kharsang,
Plywood and veneer mills and Namdapha National Park, a few km away. The
languages spoken here are Tangsa, Singpho, Tutsa, Hindi, Assamese and English.
Best season to visit Miao
is from October to April. Though woollens are required in Winters cottons
are suitable for Summers.
Nearest airport is at Dibrugarh.
Nearest railway station is Margherita at Tinsukia. One can reach Miao by
jeep and gypsy from Margherita, Assam.
Accommodation is available at the Circuit House and Miao Tourist Lodge. Reservation authority lies with the Extra Assisstant Commisioner. Miao is ideal for trekking and hiking, and angling on the river Noadihing. |
